Cuadernillos

Los Cuadernillos were born out a collaboration between my friend, Ana and I. Ana curated my work for a solo show in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. I had been collecting quotes from books and movies for many years and they found their way into my art. Whenever I look at these little notebooks they truly do contain the soul of my work.

Santiago

These images were part of a collaborative body of work, Road Stories. Ana Garcia-Rollan curated the show for Olalab Gallery in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Pontevedra

This body of work was represented by Olalab Gallery at the Feria de Industrias Culturais 2017 Expo in Pontevedra, Spain.

Big Sur

I go camping every year in Big Sur with my partner who surfs. Driving around looking at the breaks I enjoy documenting “the search.” Year to year the ocean and conditions will be completely different. Whether there is surf or not, Big Sur never disappoints with its dramatic scenery and jade colored water.

La Musa

During the Pandemic I spent a lot of time with this beautiful tree and developed a connection that has inspired a new body of work. I love to record the transition from Winter to Spring. A few years ago I read that trees have a heartbeat. That has always stuck with me as this tree has become my muse and friend. The past few years since I was home so much I started to notice the stress of climate change on this special tree. It was horrifying to watch the ash fall on the leaves during the CZU fire in Santa Cruz and equally disturbing as these same leaves burn each summer due to unseasonably high temperatures in our coastal town. Each year the blossoms come earlier and because of the drought I’ve had to start watering my tree and hope that it will continue to thrive despite all these stresses. I’m grateful to have developed this special bond with this tree and seeing first hand how humans are impacting the environment makes this work even more important to share. I think the more that humans connect with nature the better chance we have of turning around the climate shifts. Our lives are entwined with nature and what could be more magical than a tree taking my breath and turning it into oxygen!

Tierra

I am fortunate to travel all over the United States with my work. Whenever I am able, I seek out these extraordinary landscapes.

Ciudades

In my travels around the states I find there is a loneliness that pervades our cities. So many places remind me of Edward Hopper’s paintings. His timeless work embodies the isolation of our modern world. I too wonder about the stories behind the empty chair or the window with the curtain partially open. What is this solitary world we find ourselves in?
